What is the filter PIN?

The code that protects your phone's app list and filter settings.

The filter PIN is a code set by whoever registered the phone. It’s the lock on the phone’s filter. Without it, nobody can request apps or loosen the filter, including the phone’s user.

What it protects

  • App requests (the request form asks for it, if one is set)

  • Filter changes, like turning on hotspot or texting

  • Parental Controls on the phone

  • Re-registering the phone

What it isn’t

  • It’s not your screen-lock code.

  • It’s not your serial number.

Who should set it?

We recommend that the PIN is set by a parent, spouse or rebbi, not by the person who uses the phone. That way the user can’t change the phone alone.

If the phone has no PIN and someone else could request apps, we recommend setting one.

Keep it private

We will never tell anyone your PIN or give hints. If you type your PIN in a support chat, we won’t repeat it back.
