Texting FAQ

Quick answers about texting being turned off, using Messages on a computer, and more.

Texting is turned off on my phone. How do I turn it on? On a phone where texting is disabled, turning it on needs a request through our request system (like an app request), with the filter PIN. If texting was blocked in Kosher Qin Phone app → ☰ → Parental Controls, the PIN holder can unblock it there (the filter PIN is needed).

Can I use Google Messages on my computer or tablet? Yes, pairing by QR code works. Pairing by Google account does not.

A message says “Update Google Play services to use Messages.” Open the Kosher Qin Phone app → Updates tab, swipe down, and update Google Play Services. Then restart your phone.

Can I block spam numbers? Yes. Block single numbers from inside the messaging app.

Can I limit texting to only certain contacts? No, that isn’t available.

Why are my texts encrypted (lock icons)? The lock means the messages are encrypted. They aren’t locked.

Can I use iMessage? No. iMessage and FaceTime are Apple-only and can’t work on any Android phone.

Is it safe to clear my messaging app’s storage? No. Clear storage deletes all your messages. Clear cache is safe.
