Once your apps are installed, take a few minutes for these steps.
1. Update everything
Open the Kosher Qin Phone app → Updates tab. Swipe down to refresh. Update the Kosher Qin Phone app first (it shows at the top), then Google Play Services, then everything else. One at a time on Wi-Fi works best.
2. Sign in to your accounts
Now you can sign in to Google and your other accounts. If you need to create a new Google account, do it on another device first, then sign in on the Qin.
3. Install Google Find Hub
We don’t have a tool to locate or lock a lost phone. If Google Find Hub is in your app store, install it now so you can find the phone if it is ever lost. It can’t help if it wasn’t installed before the phone was lost.
4. Back up your contacts and photos
Contacts: turn on sync with Google Contacts.
Photos: use Google Photos backup, or copy them to a computer with the USB cable.
This protects your data if the phone ever needs a repair or reset.
5. Set a filter PIN (parents)
If the phone is for a child and no PIN was set, set one at my.kosherqinphone.com so nobody else can request apps. You can also lock the app store on the phone with Parental Controls. See “How do I use Parental Controls?”
6. Get to know the Kosher Qin Phone app
Almost everything you do on the phone starts in the Kosher Qin Phone app. See “A tour of the Kosher Qin Phone app.”
Handy tips
Hold the Back button for 2 seconds (the back-arrow key at the top right of the keypad) to see your open apps. From there you can press Clear All, or Adjust Resolution to zoom the screen out if an app’s buttons are cut off.
Swipe down from the top of the screen for quick settings like screenshot, screen recording, flashlight and hotspot.
