How do I get mobile hotspot on my phone?

Hotspot is off by default and can be turned on through a request, like an app request.

Mobile hotspot (and Bluetooth tethering) is off by default on the Kosher Qin Phone. You can ask to have it turned on through a request, the same way you request a new app.

What you need

  • Your phone’s serial number (Settings → About → Model & Hardware → Serial Number)

  • Your filter PIN (the PIN set when the phone was registered)

  • ID verification, completed by a family member or the user’s rebbi

  • Your phone must be on our 2.0 system. If your Kosher Qin Phone app has an Account tab, you’re on 2.0. If not, see kosherqinphone.com/upgrade first.

  • The $5 request fee. It covers the ID verification and is not refundable.

If the phone belongs to a child, a parent should submit the request.

How to request it

  1. Submit a request through our request system: on my.kosherqinphone.com, or on the phone in the Kosher Qin Phone app → Account → Request.

  2. Enter your filter PIN and pay the fee.

  3. Watch your account email for the ID verification link. It must be completed within 7 days, or the request closes.

  4. Requests are usually reviewed within a few hours, but can take up to 3–5 days. You’ll get an email when it’s approved or rejected.

After it’s approved

  1. Restart your phone.

  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen. Hotspot is one of the quick settings tiles.

  3. If you don’t see it, swipe sideways to see more tiles, or tap the pencil (edit) icon and drag the Hotspot tile into your tiles.

Good to know

  • Hotspot uses your plan’s mobile data.

  • Our Unlimited cellular plan includes hotspot at the plan level, but the hotspot on the phone still has to be turned on through this request.

  • We can’t promise whether devices connected to your hotspot will be filtered or not.
