How do I request a new app?

Step-by-step instructions for submitting an app request.

Any app that isn’t already in your app store has to be requested. Every request is reviewed by a person.

Before you start

You’ll need:

  • The exact app name as it appears on Google Play, or a Google Play link. A vague name (like “remote”) will be rejected. Only Google Play apps can be requested.

  • Your filter PIN, if one is set.

  • A card to pay the $5 per app fee.

  • A family member or your rebbi available to complete ID verification, if the request needs it.

Submit on the website

  1. On a computer or another phone, go to my.kosherqinphone.com.

  2. Choose Manage My Device and enter your serial number.

  3. Open the app request form and enter the app.

  4. Enter your filter PIN if asked.

  5. Pay the fee. It’s $5 per app (you can choose to pay more, but you don’t have to).

Submit on the phone

  1. Update the Kosher Qin Phone app to the latest version (Updates tab).

  2. Open the Kosher Qin Phone app → Account tab → Request.

  3. Enter the app, your PIN if asked, and pay the fee.

What happens next

  1. Before you pay, the form reminds you that the app may not be approved and may not work on the phone.

  2. If the request needs ID verification, we email a link to your account email. It must be completed within 7 days. See “What is ID verification?”

  3. If we need your filter PIN, you’ll get a “Verify Your Filter PIN” email with a link. That link also expires after 7 days.

  4. You’ll get an email when the request is Approved or Rejected. This usually takes a few hours, but can take up to 3–5 days.

  5. If approved, open the Kosher Qin Phone app → Apps → All and install it.

Good to know

  • Each app is a separate request and a separate $5.

  • A request is for one phone. It can’t be moved to another phone.

  • A request can’t be changed to a different app after you submit it.

  • Hotspot, and texting on a phone where it’s turned off, are also turned on through a request, the same way as an app.

  • Apps can’t be requested through the support chat or email. Please use the request form.

  • We can’t test an app for you before you request it. The review decides.
