Can my child request apps or hotspot on their own?

Why changes to a child's phone need a parent's approval.

No. A child’s phone doesn’t get new apps or filter changes without a parent’s approval.

New apps

App requests usually need ID verification by a family member (usually a parent) or the user’s rebbi. A child can’t complete verification for themselves unless they meet the required age.

Hotspot, texting and other filter changes

These need the filter PIN and, usually, ID verification. A parent should submit the request.

How parents can help

  • Set the filter PIN yourself and keep it private. See “How do I set or change my filter PIN?”

  • Use your own email as the account email, so verification links come to you.

  • If you want to request something for your child’s phone, or have a question, contact us from your own email or through the support chat.

If a parent says no

A parent’s decision comes first. If a parent asks us to remove an app, we won’t add it back for the child.
