How do I upgrade my phone to 2.0?

Try the self-upgrade first; if it doesn't work, ship your phone in.

First, check that your phone needs it: if the Kosher Qin Phone app has no Account tab, it’s on the older system. See “Is my phone on the 2.0 system?”

All upgrade information is at kosherqinphone.com/upgrade. Please read that page before you start.

Step 1: Back up your phone

Keeping your data is not guaranteed. Back up your contacts, photos and texts first. See “How do I back up my phone before sending it in?”

Step 2: Try the self-upgrade

Some phones can upgrade themselves. Follow the instructions on kosherqinphone.com/upgrade. In short:

  1. Open the Software Update app on the phone (this is the system updater, not the Updates tab).

  2. One of two things happens:

    • It downloads an app called “Update to 2.0” (or “2.0 Updater”). Follow the instructions on the website to finish.

    • It loads for a long time (wait 3–5 minutes), opens the Downloads or Files app, or shows an error. This means your phone can’t upgrade itself.

  3. If there’s no Software Update app on the phone, your phone can’t upgrade itself.

Step 3: If the self-upgrade doesn’t work, ship it in

Fill out the ship-in form on kosherqinphone.com/upgrade, then contact us. See “How does the ship-in upgrade work?”

What we don’t offer

We don’t do in-person or walk-in upgrades, upgrades through a computer or USB, install files you run yourself, remote sessions, or swapping your phone for a new one instead of upgrading.
