Maps or GPS stops when the phone screen turns off
Go to Settings → Apps & notifications → Google Maps (do the same for Waze and Android Auto).
Tap Battery optimization and choose Not optimized.
In the app’s Permissions, set Location to Allow all the time.
Waze closes during calls
Open Waze → Settings → General.
Turn on Keep Waze on top.
When asked, allow Waze to appear on top of other apps.
The phone goes into Do Not Disturb when connected
Check both your phone’s Do Not Disturb settings (Settings → Sound → Do Not Disturb) and your Android Auto settings (Settings → Connected devices → Connection preferences → Android Auto).
